Dada.net has released a Press Release in English about the Girl Geek Dinner.
Milan to host 2nd edition of Girl Geek Dinner Italy
Milan, February 18, 2008 – Are the internet and the web still just toys for boys? Based on the number of subscriptions to the 2nd edition of the Girl Geek Dinner Italy, it seems that the world wide web is not just a playground for males.
The term Girl Geek is used to describe girls who are passionate about technology, and more specifically about the internet and new media.
Girl Geek Dinners, strictly girls only, give women a chance to meet, over dinner, and share ideas in a casual and fun environment. Conversation topics will stem from an introduction by a key note speaker. In the end boys can participate too, but only if they are invited by a Girl Geek.
The dinner in Milan is part of a series of global events (London, Brighton, San Francisco and Toronto are just a few of the cities where Girl Geek Dinners are regularly held). The events are organized to give women, who are interested in technology, a chance to meet and share ideas. This year’s topic will be “How women can learn to enter the field: Network, Share & Empower”.
Women who love hi-tech will meet for the 2nd Italian edition in Milan on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Osteria dei Vecchi Sapori in via Carmagnola, 3 at 7:00 p.m.
“Girl Geek Dinner is a new opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and lay down foundations for the future. We are already planning the next meeting and we are in touch with the other Girl Geek Dinner groups so that we can grow together. I’m extremely pleased to announce that in addition to Dada, already the sponsor of the last edition, two new key companies have been added - Ogilvy and Cisco” commented Sara Rosso, one of the organizers of the 2nd edition of the Girl Geek Dinner.
Participation is free, but space is limited – in fact there is a already a waiting list. At any rate, Geek Girls can continue to write to us and sign up through our website:
www.girlgeekdinnersitalia.com.
The event is sponsored by Dada, whose community Dada.net (www.dada.net) accounts for more than 12 million people from 40 countries around the world, by Ogilvy, one of the largest communication networks in the world with 497 offices in 125 countries, and by Cisco, a global leader in the supply of network services that transform the way people communicate and cooperate.
Finally, two surprises: a toast by San Lorenzo (http://www.san-lorenzo.com) and special “Girl Geek Dinner” Moleskine notebooks.
